need mid-bass suggestions..

Hi, thanx for looking, i currently have JL xr653 components, I'm relatively happy with them but i feel they lack midbass, doors are sealed as well as possible and deadened.....going to do a custom install on anything new i get so size doesnt matter 6.5 to 8" is fine, i listen to extremely heavy metal and jazz (moreso the metal) so im open to suggestions on what might give me chest pounding midbass, beit DIY stuff or brand name...budget is 1k max...

...system background premier 880prs deck, 2x JL12w3v3 subs powered by an Xtant 1001x and a phoenix gold 200.4 running the fronts (active)...

..thanx again for looking and input is greatly appreciated.

imo i would pick up a single 10 sealed 3-500 wrms for sub/amp rms outputs(amp)/inputs(sub),medium priced gear will fit the bill, mtx, pioneer, infinity, theres plenty of brands out there for what you want at a decent price, a grand is way more than u need to spend.

Cheap, but effective

I found that by mounting the woofer onto wood, and through the metal, worked very well, the wider the better. If you can stuff a foam pocket with fiberfil, allowing the rear vent of the woofer to breathe it'll help in giving you fuller bodied sound.
Umm, that's where custom work can come in.
I wouldn't recommend any heavy driver in a door, you're asking for trouble IMO.
BTW, what's the ride? Do you have any pics of the area to work with?

Mach5 has a decent looking 6.5 mid for only $18! I'll hopefully be picking up a pair this week if everything works out

I've used the Image Dynamics 6.5's for misbass, they worked good. I still have the old set that was given back to me, damaged, after they were stolen.
In my last car, I used the JL 6.5 mini subs in the doors for midbass.
The trick i find with midbass is to ONLY use them for midbass. You need control over them with a dedicated active crossover.
I used to run the ID's 80 Hz to 400Hz. I used the JL mini subs for 60Hz to 200 Hz. I used 2 or 3 way coax or compionent for mids and highs. I still have the pair of JL 6W0's if you're interested. And they looked cool in the doors..

What kind of depth do you have to work with? How low do you need them to play? B&C has some nice ones but they are fairly useless under 80Hz BCSpeaker.
Maybe Peerless SLS 8", I believe these will play fine down to 40Hz SLS 8″ Subwoofer Peerless Datasheet. I've also heard good things about the Extremis 6.8/6.4 Adire AudioŽ 2007 - Get serious about sound.
