i dont think i would put that sub in a box much smaller than 2 to 2.5 cf. bigger is almost always better.

ill draw up a 2.5 cf @ 30 hz

The type R's are relatively inefficient as subs go, so I'd go the ported route.
Around 1.75 to 2 ft, tuned to 30-35 hz.
A SS(infrasonic) filter should be used to filter out the sub 20Hz tones.

Very good SQ from this box, and decent output with 300 watts per sub (the sealed design will sound good as well, but requires more than double the power to achieve the same output).

Your not likely to find a pre-fab ported box that's built properly....too little port area, lack of bracing, and of course not a "perfect" fit in the car, would be some of the trade-offs.

That's what I find very funny about egos.

Someone ASKs a question and everyone gets thier ***** in a knot and the string runs off.

And then you wonder why the Mod lock down threads.

When you are thinking of a sub box (pre-fab or custom) you need to figure out what you want out of the box, SQ, SPL Monster, what kind of music do you listen to, rock, country, R&B, Pop....etc.

All this is going to effect what kind of box you are looking at. As for "Prefab sucks", I do not agree. In most cases you can find a prefab box that will work well for most of your app. The advantages of a custom box is the box can be finely tuned for what you are looking for and that is most people get the impression that a custom box "sounds" better.

I rather a prefab box so I could just have it and have to worry about getting one, but the biggest prefab box I could find around here was a 0.9 ft, which sucks. However, I found a car audio shop that said they will build me one for about 200. This will be a 2.0 ft built to alpines specs.
