keep what you got and make a costum ported box tuned to approx 30 32hz since you want it low. whould be good. 1000watts rms is loud. and should be. if its not then your box sux bud

1000 wrms should be very loud, if properly tuned. Thats what I have, and it is enough to blur your vision on bass heavy tracks. Anything louder will surely damage your hearing.

I've gotten mine to 140dB with only 600-700 rms and a single 12" 140 amp alternator. Most of the output comes from a properly tuned box. If you have 1000 rms you should have more than enough power with the right sub and box combo!

1000 was just the max I would go but 700 or so should be louder than you can stand for a daily driver...

Having some experience with these types of cars, you're probably fighting the design of the trunk as well. The back of your rear seat has a solid steel plate and the trunk in these cars are essentially isolated from the cabins. My suggestion ( i heard this in a 5 series like yours ) is to cut the panel where the ski bag pass through location is and fire a 10" sub directly into the cabin with between 700-850 WRMS.

The idea as it was presented to me essentially turns the cabin of the car into a portion of a bandpass box... if this analogy is correct or not I can't say, I'm not that big an expert however a single sub in this application was very impressive and took up little to no trunk room!!!!

i agree, 1000rms should get pretty loud.... i had a hifonics BX1000D and a cheap *** visonik sub in a ported box hitting 137db, installed 2 audiobahn AW1206Ts in a slot ported box with the same amp i jumped upto 141.1db and that was in my winter beater with a electrical system that drops to 10 volts on good bass hits haha

do ur rear seats fold down? my lumina has like 3/4" insulation between the rear seats and trunk with NON folding rear seats and i know im getting robbed with my current setup...i think im gonna rip the insulation out and cut a hole i nthe rear deck :P
