I have a USA-2000 amp. I am pushing 2 Orion H2 subs. I have a 98 Honda Accord 4 cylinder. I talked to someone and they told me that I would need a rear battery with a "Pack 200 setup"? Don't have a clue what that is. The guy told me that the amp will kill any battery I put in there unless I did the pack 200 with a rear battery.
I am running a 2 gauge to the back of the car now. The amp is not hooked up yet, but the amp has 4 power terminals on it.

Any better suggestions better than this guy I talked to?

Big alternator, and at least one run of 1/0. that thing will suck back 350A of current. I had one in a Neon with 150A Ram alternator and a Red Optima. Would still shut down on big voltage drops. closer to 3200W than the rated 2000. Ive never heard of a "Pack 200" Sounds like he's trying to sell you something. I used two 1/0 to 4-8ga output blocks at the amp to fill all the power and ground terminals. Use them all.

 

what does the rest of your system consist of? if the front stage cannot keep up,you will not use anywhere near the full output of that amp..

 

He is likely talking about an isolating relay, the PAC-200 made by PAC Industries. It disconnects the rear battery from the front when the car is off so that you can run the rear battery down and still start the car.

I don't think many people use isolating relays anymore - they just connect the two batteries. Make sure you have a fuse at each end of the wire.

You are going to need some serious power upgrades (battery/alternator) to use that amp.

 

Thanks guys. So, at minimum I will need a alternator and battery. What's the minimum size alternator I will need? I saw a 160 AMP and a 200 AMP alternator for my car. I don't know about this stuff really, but will it hurt my car in any way of having a larger alternator? I don't think it will but what do I know.
