My first temporary install in my current car was worse,... much worse.

Everybody starts somewhere.

With regard to his insurance, I purchased a brand new 40K car at 22 and paid less than that. People thought my parents bought that car for me too...

I think he's got some decent enough gear. A 9500 12" ain't cheap and I imagine the Pioneer indash screen wasn't either, nor the amp relatively speaking.

GMonette, you should spend a little time out here in Vancouver. The amount of kids you see driving Benzs and BMW's would make you go He very well could have paid for it himself although those things are made 100% easier if you live at home not paying room and board and if you parents gave you a head start with your own business. Lots of that happens out there. I don't know if that is Miluni's case or not but it wouldn't suprise me. Some prevelant cultures out here very much encourage and support that kind of thing. There's a lot of money out here that comes from overseas too.

As for the insurance, don't forget that you are in the land of private insurance companies in Alberta and they like to stick under 25 year old males right up the poop shoot. We have a government-regulated style of insurance out here. It's not as cheap as Saskatchewans but sure as heck is cheaper than Alberta. In January, I'll be paying $148/month for my 2000 Caravan and that's with a 'loaded' insurance plan and 43% discount. My 85 Chevy truck right now costs me all of $95 a month. After you turn 25, your rates should drop big time. Out here, they don't rate you based on sex and age, but rather on the car you drive and the amount of years you have been accident free to get a discount.

I am 26, and drive a 92 Jeep Yj. I have the 43% discount, and I pay $125/month with full coverage (collision/comprehensive, etc). FYI on B.C. insurance rates, for the Alberta people.

^^^Why would you care???

Petty jealousy...why would you spend all this time justifying to yourself all the reasons why some 19 yr old kid is driving a way better car than you have and how it's all got to be a great big lie b/c you've worked your aZZ off and you don't have (and can't afford) one..... Booo-hooo

Hope you realize you're starting to sound quite pathetic, I wouldn't respond either just to get into an argument to justify one's existance with someone with as limited viewpoint as you... Do yourself a favor and get out a little more...maybe then you'd realize what is possible in this world.

BTW I have many young business acquaintances who are VERY successful, in their early 20's driving very expensive cars, operating multi-million dollar yearly sales companies, own their own homes and drive very nice cars...nicer than that Benz.

Once you realize what is possible you'll never see the world through the same eyes again, so do yourself a favor and get some perspective.

Looking at that install, I must say that for a 1st attempt, yeah its great, smooth job on the wiring, looks as good as the installs I've seen come out of Soundsaround here in Calgary. But I just want to know one question.
what kind of business, honestly... this is driving me nuts. WHAT BUSINESS DOES HE OWN???!! Is it legal? the only "business" that I know of that allows a 19 year old to buy a $40k Benz involves white powder or something else along those lines. When I was 20, I attempted to pioneer my own Limousine company. It would of been a smashing success, but there were no reason to expect any immediate profits of more then $300/ month for the first 5 years until the $160K limo was paid off, and that was if nothing catastrophic happens. And that was within the first 5 years, of blood sweat and tears. As it is now, it would be another 3 years from this point before I could expect any large profit margins. So yes I know a fair share about business, I really do. Please understand, Im only curious, really curious, because if a 19 y.o. can afford a car like that, already, I'm doing something very wrong. since Im 22, and only driving a (really nice) mazda mx6, I need to get my crap together fast. If its legal and honest, I want to do something like that over here, since thats really something. My apologies, if it really is his car, and he paid for it HIMSELF, then my hat goes off to you, you must really be something. All I want to know, is how you did it.
