hey all,

so my head unit died, it was an RF unit from 2001ish and i need to replace it. looking for something stylish with solid 4V <50ohm preouts that won't break the bank. also, prefer to deal locally at solid shops.

i'd like to hear what people would suggest in this category ... i will be hitting the shops and such, but it's always nice to get more opinions.

part 2 to this question is what do you guys think is a resonable price for the following gear:

2001 Punch 360a2, boxes, manuals, perfect shape
2001 Punch bd1000a1, boxes, manuals, perfect shape
2001 JL 15W3 - perfect shape, only driven with the bd in JL-designed sealed box.

i'm thinking i want to swap the 15W3 for a single 8 or 10 incher and go with one 4 channel amp.

sorry if it's not allowed to ask for pricing in this forum!

Depends on what features you need in the deck.
For a basic high-end deck with nice pre-outs and DAC then the Denonford 8250 is perfect (although you will have to find used or Ebay but there's lot's out there).
You could also go with a 5-series Eclipse if you need some more processing.

As far as pricing goes I think ^^^^^^^^^is pretty close. Maybe a touch high but if they're in excellent condition then it's worth it.

IMO though, those are two great amps and each has enough power to drive any nice high-end driver. For what you're going to get for them used and for what a decent size 4ch is going to cost then just keep those amps you have.

At the price of this years Eclipse cd players, you just can't miss with them. 5volt 55 ohm and 8 volt 55 ohm non-clipping preouts starting cheaper than a bald mans haircut.
