new gear for my neon just showed up, 2 alpine f#1 mrvf900 amplifiers, 1 set of the f#1 3 way set, 7", 4" and tweeters and 2 type x 12's, to go with my cda7990 and pxah900, the deconctruction and reconstruction begins tomorrow, the new install will break new ground for me and donny, excitement would be a gross understatement to describe how much we cant wait to get going, install should take about 4-5 weeks and we will post pics during the install

This should be interesting.

interseting in what way dukk, dont worry i will be sure to put all the speakers in the wrong spots and use massive processing to bandaid it :D
|
Interesting in that I own the same body car and always like to see different ideas.
As for the rest - why stray from what works for you eh? |
the 4" and tweeters will be in the a pillar, the 6" midbass from a separate pair of f#1 speakers will be in the kickpanels for midbass and 1 of the 7" woofers will be in the center of the dash for subwoofer, the 12" type x will be used just for spl, maybe in ib, im not too sure yet but they are the least of my concers. hte top of the dash will be shortened and the hump over the guages will be flattened right out

Right on. So the whole ported door pod thing is getting tossed?
|
i wanted to do a 3 way system this year and the vented doors just didnt make sense and the f#1 6" mid/bass wouldnt work very well in the door boxes and they are the furthest thing from being simple to modify. the 6"'s in the kick panels may end up being ported, the trunk will get built first, then the a pillar speakers and dash woofers, then considerable testing will be done to determine if the 6" in the floor is needed. my hpoe is that i can get the 4" to play low enough(125hz) well. in my current system the dash woofer plays from 200hz and down and the doors were 110 hz and up and it worked very well. i really hope that i can get enough good output from the 4", i really want all the speakers in my system to be on top of the dash with the 4" and tweets as wide and high as i can get them. on paper its a great plan, time will tell if can be executed

wow!!! nice gear
|
Dave, I ran into excursion issues running my 4" midrange down below 200hz. I've got 3mm of Xmax, the Alpine's are rated for half that I think.
Other than that, you lucky mother... |
time will tell, what will and wont work, i have all the speakers and amplification that i need to do whatever i have to do. i can fit a 5,25" midbass on either side of the dash to go with the 4" and tweeter in the pillar but it will create a serious timing issue that wouldnt be a big deal for 1 seat judging but will create havoc with 2 seats, they way it will be judged. this new system is being built stricly to compete and improve on my 5th place at finals from '04, deconstruction begins in less tha 3 hours
