new installers from hell!

ok folks let here some horror stories from the "new" installer in the bay... no names either... we just hired a guy, smelly red head that had bigger titty than dolly parton. and more crack hanging out on installs than the mexican mafia... lasted one month befor we finally canned him... out of 90 installs i had over 15 warranties, not including calls complaing. i get sunday monday off and tuesday was hell morning, well customer calls in and wants a deck and amp and two put into his 99 vette. i say i wont work on it so i ask the other installer if he wants to do deck amp and two in a vette. "ya no problem peice of cake" ok so i book it for sunday which is the only day they can come in.... well come tuesday i walk in the store and get dragged into the managers office. RANDY what the hell is going on in the install bay.... EXCUSE ME i have been off for two days whats wrong.. well to cut this nightmare short what happened was he used the wrong dash kit for the car, couldnt get it to fit so glued backstrap to hold it in place.... but now the dash didnt go back on properly... oh well maybe the customer wont notice.. then only the driver speaker worked... wrong wires off the stock amps used.... whoops. and after putting in the mtx mids moved the stock door mounted amps to another spot on the door and drilled into the door without telling the customer... hell its only fiberglass i can fix anything that the customer isent happy with........ pulled off the chevy sound proffing material in the door and didnt wipe off his hands and continued in the car leaving black marks all over the tan interior, leather seats, and carpet.. then forgot to take knife out of pocket and sat on that said leather seat................. ya you got it no need to say what happened to the leather. so rob came in and spent 5 hrs on warranty fixing the front, then i spent 3 hrs making a sub box for the back area to hold one 12 inch sub with a kenwood amp... all free... sorry about your car sir.... and the installer when i asked him about it said oh well it really wasent that bad............... fu@# dude your done.......bad bad attitude... paul what do you think... got one for us.

Well, i cant related from a business stand point, but years ago i took my less than 1 year old car into a car audio shop, just had the suspension and motor completed and was going for a complete SPL system. Went with 15" kickers, orion 2250sx's, 225hcca. The system 'looked' amazing!
But when i went to pick up my car, there was a huge dent in the 1/4 panel. I was like DAMN. The installers claimed they never seen it and assured me it was them accidentally doing it.
Long story short, the owner of the shop cut a cheque to paint my brand new less than a year old car. The system was decent, they didn’t take into account seats slid full to the back, so being a tall person i couldn’t adjust the seat properly, blew countless subs due to them hitting the back of the driver seat.
Fuses used to pop like mad. Alarm didn’t function properly.

4 months and $$$ later, pulled all the stereo out and sold it all. What a waste. The shop "car stereo warehouse" ended being bought out and new owners came in.

we had a guy who had "5 years" of install experience and clearly no common sense experience...first install we got him to do was a deck and amp into a brand new lancer ralliart. Well, he kept his keys on a carabiner on his belt, so when he leaned into the engine compartment to do some work, he scratched the out of it because he didnt use a shield on the fender, and it was a black car, so it was rather noticeable. As if once wasnt enough he did it again on the other side. And the deck was iso mounted and it stuck out from the dash a good 2 cm. The worst part is he didn't tell anyone and when he pulled the car around and was showing it to the customer while i was doing up the bill, he told the customer it was impossible to flush mount the deck and he also told the customer the scratches would just buff out so he didnt have to worry. First installer I've had that didn't last a day lol. oh! and instead of grounding the amp somewhere nice and neat, he ran the ground to a screw on the back shelf of the car. And after that the boss asked to speak with him he went into the bosses office and started lipping off to the boss about how he knew exactly what he was doing, and used some rather foul language...the boss canned him on the spot...*shudder* oh memories

At the last shop I worked at, we had a guy who had 5 "years" of experience.
More like 5 minutes. He Claimed to be awsome at fiberglass, customwork. so on a slow day the boss put him on the demo car we were building. He was making the fiberglass door pannels. He pulled the dooor skins off, snaping all the clips. Pulled all the factory carpeting off the door, Cracking the pannels.
When he made the frame the doors wouldnt even close, so he had to do it over. Then he did The Wrap, and it kinda looked good. I was starting to turn my opinion around. Then he started mixing and applying the fiberglass resin. Well thats when it all went to hell. He mixed the resin 50/50 with hardener. after about 2 minutes. both the rear door skins burst into flames, and set a table on fire IN the shop. When the boss talked to him about it, he had a **** poor attitude and blamed it on everyone else.........um yeah, he got fired.

10 years ago we had a guy who loved to use hot glue for installing a deck in the dash -- on my day off I received a call on my home phone from an angry client whose deck fell into his lap while he was driving... let's just say that person does not do car audio installations anymore.
