New Member, Need your help, 70 Cuda Speakers
Hello
I am a new member. I have been reviewing the topics. There is a lot of technical expertise here.
I have a 1970 Cuda Convertible.
I have invested in a new interior for this car. I want to maintain the stock appearance. I just bought a new dash and would like to install speakers prior to install the dash.
It is a 3 speaker dash with two 3.5 inch speakers and 1 4x10 speaker. I was considering changing the 4x10 to two 5 inch speakers
What can I do for the back with out cutting the interior panels.
Thoughts?
I am not looking for the incredible systems that I see here, just a quality sound
I can add pics as required. Just tell me what you want to see.
thanks

Don't bother with the center speaker area. Just go 3 1/2's at each end of the dash. Can you do kickpanels in that car with no modifications? I know you can in most GM's, just take out the vents seall them up and you have a nice spot. IMO with the 3 1/2's and a set of 5 1/4's in the kicks run off a decent amp you will have pretty good sound up front. Then you just add a sub or two in a ported box in the trunk and you will have good sound.... for a convertable.

There is very little space behind the kick panels. I will measure it. Additionall the emergency brake pedal is in front of the drivers kick panel reducing the amount of area for any type of speaker grill.

Sounds like a fun car, for sure. If you don't mind modifying, you could cut off the e brake and relocate it at right angles to the kick panel to make some more room, but I don't imagine that would be something you would want to do with that ride.....
