So much of that install is fantastic...then the middle amp kind of ruins it for me.
I would flush trim the surface the amp is mounted to, and internally wire the amp through it's underside. Sure it's pretty extreme, and unreversable, but the rest of your install is pretty extreme too. Tim Ballie is the master of sterile wiring around here, ask him what he'd do. Adam |
^^ Yeah, internal wiring is a bit extreme.
Personally I would just do some sort of a trim piece to cover the entire surface that the amp is mounted on. Then just drill a couple of holes on the underside of that same surface and feed the wires up and in to the amp. It would be a lot easier and the wires would then be out of the way. btw.. Kriston... I checked out your SD page and you were completely in love with the Zapco amps, why the change to the Xtant? How would you compare them? [ May 12, 2005, 06:52 AM: Message edited by: JordyO ] |

I like the xtants for 1 because they are small and 2 because they are a straight forward amp no onboard processing makes things a little easier to tune from the processor. On my highs the xtants are wonderful, very crisp and clear detail, depth is just as good as the 4.0 (i do have more power on my highs now) than when i had the 2.5 and 4.0 on them so that probably makes the difference... To be honest theirs nothing like head room id much rather have extra power than a super expensive amp on my front end.. Kriston [ May 12, 2005, 11:17 AM: Message edited by: battyrida ] |
A relatively easy fix for the center amp wiring is to space the amp up 1/4" off it's pedestal and run the wiring underneath it. Then the wiring can loop straight back under the amp and go to whatever hole underneath.

hey guys i actually pulked that 5th amp out today im in the process of internally wiring it so no wires will be see from the outside it will come straight up through the plate. essentially it would loook as if the amp is not wired.

^ That will look trick. You don't compete right?

How about Street X (IASCA) or Advanced Expert (USACi)?
That's where they put you if you mod that amp. :( It will look sweet but amp mods jam you into the highest class usually |
thanks for letting me know... hrmmm I wondering now because i already started pulling the rca inputs back etc...

I don't want to discourage you - just letting you know before the equipment check judge at a show does
I once saw a guy almost get bumped because he soldered the power wires to the amps molex input (he had lost the plug). That's not even an internal mod... Luckily he had a spare amp (?) with him to swap in |
