new setup= new wiring? and new sub = new box?

i recently upgraded my system to a alpine type r 12" and a Hifonics 1005. the sub does 300 rms at 4 ohms. the amp does 350rms at 4 ohms. my last setup was 2 RF Z subs doing 150rms total with a p3001 amp. i thought there would be a huge difference, but it sounds the same.

but all the wiring was for my last setup, do i need smaller gauge wiring? ive got a 8 gauge kit. also i havent got around to getting a box just the type r because i was planning on getting another one to add to it.

for the moment i have just the 1 sub hooked up to sealed box that fits two 12s, i left 1 old rf z sub covering the second 12" hole. how much louder would it be if i got a box that only fits 1 12"?

what else could i do?
any suggestions?

It all depends on what you want with your system. SPL, SQ or both. I would also suggest you go with 4 gauge throughout and at least 16 gauge for your sub. Your amp is just a bit louder then your sub so i would say get another type r never hurts to add another sub.

And its all in your box, tune and test, the only thing here is if you dont know what to do check sub manual and try and stay within reason of their recommendations, and for a type R i find they work great in both great in sealed and ported, so thats also up to you. If you need any help just reply back and ill help you out the best i can with some box ideas.

Oh and about your old system two subs are greater then one if you are close in power range.

yeas but the other sub in the box that isnt wired is not the same impedience(8 ohm) as the alpine.

would it make that much of a difference if i got another box for just the alpine?

Defenitely because a box should always be fitted for that sub not two different ones and a properly tuned box can do wonders.
