I got accouple questions:
Do u have a specific budget for subs and amp?
What are u lookin to get out of your gear? like are u lookin to just get some decent bass or over the top bass, and just good boom for the buck?
I have NO opinion on that other gear, as I dont know much about it sry.

Have u looked at any of the private smaller stores, or is there a reason why u are looking to best buy? just the price?
judging by what the seller knows about his stuff, i'd say that he probably doesn't know how to use it properly (not that i do, but i will learn).
I don't really have a set budget, its kinda keep it cheap and slowly get the stuff as i can afford it. i priced out those 2 subs and amp from best buy, along with 4 speakers and another amp and it came out to about $1000. I might be able to swing more than that, but it has to be some fantastic stuff.
As for what i want out of it, i want to get boom for the buck. i love feeling the bass but i also want it to sound good (as it can get).
I'm searching best buy because i have no idea where any smaller stores are. im currently in London Ontario for a while for shhool, but i don't know the area, and no one that i have spoken with knows of any place...

Best and worst thing I did when I was a n00b was go to a private shop. Go to a reputable store, perhaps someone can suggest one in/around London. Some shops are shady and will rip you off if they can, other shops are genuinely helpful to set you up within your budget. It definitely helps if you have someone who referred you to say, "Hi, I'm looking for this, so and so told me to come here."

Knowing what you want and your budget go hand in hand. As long as you are reasonable with your expectations, you will be happy with your purchase.

$1000 is a good budget. With that I'd definitely recommend buying new or used from a seller who actually knows his gear. I'd say search the classifieds on here. You could even post in the Eastern Canada forum to see if any of the locals want to get together for a meetup sort of thing. Face time, seeing/hearing others setups, being around it and asking questions in person is the best way to learn about it when you have the opportunity.

That Best Buy stuff is garbage. If you're on a low budget just keep reading and looking at reviews and you'll learn what used gear to look for. There's literally tons of excellent used gear available on forums and kijiji. You just need to pick the right stuff.
Post a budget, the vehicle, and what you want from the system and I'm sure the members here can point you in the right direction.

Do not buy gear from someone who doesn't even know what it is. I can guarantee you that stuff was not hooked up correctly and if it is still somehow functional I'm willing to bet not by much.

Proof of purchase date is your best friend. Six month old gear from someone who can actually explain what he bought, why he bought it and why he's selling it will serve you much better than the former.

When in doubt, back out.

As for buying gear on the cheap, EBay is always an option. Top of the line gear for as low as half the MSRP price, just be wary of what stores you use and the warranties they offer as very few online stores carry the manufacturer's warranty.

Car Audio- Subs, Amps, CD/MP3 deck - London Electronics For Sale - Kijiji London Canada.

This is a good deal grab his ppi sub for now and the amp

If your not happy with the subs sell them for the same price you bought them and get 2 12"s.......or don't buy the subs at all and get them somewhee else

The amp is pretty good for $100 but offer $75 for the subs.

I urge you to have all wiring installed correctly by a pro.

The amp will do 600 Rms at 2 ohms so when you get different (4 ohm)subs wire them together for a 2 ohm final load.

With $1000 budget, you need to read alot alot alot first on this board, Caraudio.com and diymobileaudio.com and when you know exactly what you want then go search for the equipment.
$1000 can get you alot.
One thing you didn't mention was what the rest of the equipment in your setup is? That is very very important. Let us know.
FYI - $1200 got me my Hybrid Audio Clarus passive components, Massive Audio NX5 and 2 - 12" Stereo Integrity BM MKiii subs. I'll build my own box for an additional ~$100.

if you had thought about going to best buy for the price, id always shop around, i just picked up half my system today, went into futureshop looking for an alpine amp and sub, mrp m500 was 299.99 and they didnt even have any type r's in stock i dont think they carry them anymore cuz they arent online either, so i leave with my cash still in my pocket and go to the only local shop, walk in and ask for the price on an mrp m500 and he says 219.99 ask for a 12 inch type r hes got four in stock and gave me 50 bux off msrp, so overall i saved pretty much $130 off by going with the local guy, plus hes cutting me a deal on my speaker wire and amp install kit when i build my box later this week, theres huge mark up in car audio so usually the local guys will give you a bit of a better deal if you get all of your stuff there rather than at the big box stores, just a tip

Figure out your 'whole' system and your goals before you buy anything.

Here is some good advice right here. ^^^^ Nothing like changing your midstream and realizing that the stuff you got last month isn't going to work now. Or buying subs only to realize later that you can't find an amp that will work. The one other thing I will say is DO NOT go cheap just so you can get it now. Wait and save your money until you can afford the name brand stuff. Stay away from Boss, Koss, Jensen, Dual etc. If you stick with the big guys Kenwood, Clarion, Alpine, Pioneer, even their lower end stuff will work better.
