Hey there... I hope you guys don't mind me asking random stupid questions, but, in time I should learn well... in the meantime, bear with me (if you can).

So, here's the deal. I have my 4 channel amp now, and I'm really debatting wether I should try to install it myself, or if I should spend the extra cash and get it installed, and while I'm at it, ask them to add an extra positive wire going to the trunk because I'm planning on getting a second mono amp and a sub soon enough.

I'm fairly at ease with anything electronic and I'm fairly good with my hands. But, when it comes to cars, I know nothing. It took me quite a few hours just to figure out how to install the replacement speakers when I bought them.

So ? Any tips ? Anything I should know before attempting this ? Or should I not even bother and have someone else do it ?

Well an amp is easy stuff to install. Just do some reseach and learn how to install the amp before you try to install. Beware this can be a very time cosumming project but it's worth it, in both money savings and the fact you can say you did it. Just to point you in the right direction and check out this Website I know it helped me allot when I was new to car audio.

If it took you a few hours to install replacement speakers, I would get a friend to help me the first few times.

Any tips ? off the + have a fuse then run 1 big power wire then tap it down to two wires at that spot you will need a fuse it then go to your amps

run your rca's do not run the power down the same side of the car

also do not use the wire in the rca for the R power wire (i need to go back to my suv and fix that one )

are you running a stock deck?

look at something like this 0/1 Gauge Dual Amplifier Power Kit
20 Ft. 0/1 AWG Power Wire
3 Ft. 0/1 AWG Ground Wire
20 Ft. 16 AWG Remote Lead
Fuse Holder
300A ANL Fuse
2 Distribution Blocks
5 Ft. 4 AWG Power Wire
5 Ft. 4 AWG Ground Wire
and you need to get 3 sets of rca's

^^ 1/0 seems like overkill to me unless you are running a big system, imo. 4awg will probably be sufficient, depending on what he is running...

if you run 0 you will not need to go bigger later

True, in my setups I have never run anything bigger than 4awg, but it depends on how many amps you are going to run. Even running 2500 rms it was all run on 4awg, 3 extra batteries to go with it, though.

i have about 40-60' of 4g wire
i did the 0 for points in SQ but i may not have time this yr and i can not go to the usa shows .if i had the points to get to the last show in the US i can not go

Well, right now, I only have one 200W RMS amp.

I was wondering. If I start off with that, and I get a second amp later, do I need to run a second power cable from the battery or can I use the same one, put on a bigger fuse (capable of powering both amps) and the splitting the wire to 2 more fuses for each amp?
