Newbie With Question

Well, the little 2.5" in the dash are toast in my '01 Grand Cherokee, and I need to replace them. I got some 3.5" JL's but they don't fit very well, so I'll probably be taking them back where I got them.. Now, what would the audiophiles here suggest? Find some other 2.5" or whatever else will fit into the stock location, or pick up a set of components with separate tweets to replace the 6x9's in the door? I was also looking at some Kicker 6x9's in the store, cuz i likes kicker stuff, but I'm not "Mr. Only one brand of audio components for me" How much trouble is swapping out the 6x9' for 6.5's? And is it worth the effort for a basically stock system? (Although I do have a kicker amp and a 12" L5 sub in my garage that was in my previous vehicle that I haven't decided what to do with yet...)

So, which components to use, and suggestions on brands, anything I may not have thought of?
Here is my STOCK system...

Thanks.

Budget?

Always remember when dealing with speakers.... round ones sound better than ones that aren't :)

I'd go with the 6.5's idea and put the tweets in the dash... adapters for that purpose are easy to get... you can make your own out of mdf as well.

Don't want to spend more then 200-300 per set (front/rear).
I've looked at some infinity reference, alpine (Don't remember series), and Kicker components today. Not sure yet what would be best bang for buck though...

Looks like I'll go with some 6.5" because nobody at the stores around here seem to sell just tweeters....

so which one sounded best on the board for you?

The Alpine were the only ones I could hear without a bunch of other noise form other speakers in the store, so it's hard to say. I've heard lots of good things about the infinitys as well, but were unable to hear them without a subwoofer going.....
