Question Noob Help plz?

Hello,
I'm new here and not sure if I'm posting in the right place and I'm sorry for the noob question or being on the wrong forum, I'm looking for a professional opinion on a new deck, I've installed decks before but finding a deck that sounds good has always been the issue for me, most decks seem to be EQ tuned for techno/hip hop but I'm not into this bass music I listen to Hard Rock and Metal and the only deck I've owned that sounded good was a cheap Duel but the deck did not last very long. I really would like know what quality deck has good SQ for Rock music?

Thanks for your time.

If you aren't going to be running an amplifier, they pretty much all sound really similar since they are limited to a cheapo MOSFET IC amp. You can get a head unit with a built in 7 or more band EQ to fine tune.

I've heard quite a few dual head units, and if that's the kind of sound you like, then you are seriously accustomed to distorted music. Not distorted recordings..just massive distortion past that..

Are you running stock speakers too?

Need a little more info first. What is the budget, what speakers, what vehicle, amps, subs? Let us know what the plans and goals are and there are a few very knowledgable members that will help you out. Where in Ontario are you? Take your favorite CD to a few shops and listen to as many decks as you can and let your ears decide. Can't really go wrong with Kenwood, Alpine, or Eclipse IMO.

When I had the duel deck I had Dragster speakers in that car and it sounded really good no distortion at all(Saturn SL2), my issue has been another car I owned(Kia sportage) had a few decks that they sounded hollow like my music is coming out of tin can(sony, pioneer, panasonic decks)the speakers I had with those decks where alpine type s that came with the car(bought used) so could have been the speakers but alpine suppose to top notch right? The original deck that came with the car was a sony, and changed it right away with a used pioneer deck that some one sold me but it was too flashy and was stolen then I got a panasonic deck witch I didn't mind the controls where nice but still didn't sound very good.
As far as a new system I just need a head unit/deck right now to replace the factory CD player and mite be looking to change out the factory speakers at a later date when more money comes in but the factory system sounds fine to me just the lack of MP3 drives me nuts, no amp/sub since I don't have room in my jeep for a sub nor do I need one I just listen to Rock and Metal.
I'm little frustrated looking for new stuff since there seems be so much out there in the market and I have no Idea what is what or the quality of it and most decks look too blingy for my taste or playing around with them in the store the only EQ options are Bass or extra Bass, I just like something that looks simple and clean with easy controls.
I'm looking to spend around max $350 on the deck and around $600 max on the total complete system and the main features I want are Bluetooth and MP3 from a USB drive or SD card I don't have a Ipod nor do I want one.
I drive a Jeep Patriot and I'm in Brampton if thats any help.
Thanks to any one willing to put up with me, I'm sure I can be difficult but I was really unhappy with my previous stereo installs and don't have a lot of cash to spend.

Your problem on the last car in all likelyhood was atributed to poor speaker installation.

With that budget send Mr2NR a message he can hook you up with some good stuff in your budget

That be me. I have one left of the Eclipse CD3200 that is the head unit for you. It has bluetooth on board, USB input via a wired cable (makes it easy to plug in any device without it sticking out of the faceplate waiting to get broken) and it is great for tonal response. My installer listens to some kind of music that I really cannot explain and it sounds like it is right up your alley. Death metal and rock for him.

Speakers are next up and that might take a little more experimentation. In the future, if your budget and space allows, definitely consider a amplifier as it is going to bring the speakers to life. I would sound deaden the area behind and around the speakers to ensure as much midbass response as possible. No need for a sub if you do not want one. Take this one step at a time and it is all going to start with the head unit.

Rob, what is the comparable Kenwood model to the Eclipse. How does it compare to the Excelon line. I have heard a lot of K/W but no Eclipse yet. Price? I 2nd the speaker amp and deadening, almost going to be a must for listening to metal with no sub. Need gobs of midbass and there is no way even with the best speakers you're going to get it with deck power.

The only cd in the Excelon line that has bluetooth is the 993 model and it is far outside of his budget of $300.00. The standard line has a bluetooth equipped model in the KDCBT742 model (currently on back order and no idea when it is going to arrive). Personally, I would head to the eclipse as I feel it has unparalleled value for the customer. Price wise, I am confident it is going to land right around his budget as well (I am at home and do not want to speculate).

Cool, yeah Kenwood likes the "add on capability" LOL I've been hearing more and more good things about Eclipse and am just curious. Just got an X-991 so I don't see me switching anytime soon. Would like to hear some though to compare.

about the minbass and sound deading when I had my saturn the door panels where made of plastic could that have been why my saturn sounded pretty good?
I used to have a Eclipse deck for a short time in Dodge pick-up, I liked the deck but the factory speakers and CD deck where so bad, I lost that eclipse deck in accident when I hit a moose in Alberta before I could change the speakers. I was looking at the CD3200 but its been discontinued and the online reviews about the deck where not that great mostly the issues with the screen being unreadable and the bluetooth has be set-up every time you get in your car so scratched it off my list.
