Short, sweet and to the point.....

Sorry, just couldn't resist.....

If there is a question about adding or changing something in your vehicle at the end of the story, the more info (model numbers, set-up etc.) you put in the story the easier it will be to give you a better answer......:smokin:

Lurk no more, leap right in there and welcome to the board......:smilie_da

lol, sorry, full post below

looking to put together a high quality sound system for my 300m, my only experience with car audio was a bad one, paid about $1500 for a bunch of crap that barely sounded better than my stock system, this was about 15 years ago at Art of Sound on Dundas in Mississauga

since then I've been into home gear and ignored car audio but I want back in,

my home stuff has included everything from pro audio gear to audiophile type gear to custom built DIY stuff

I'm really bad with my hands, can't even put together an Ikea coffee table but I'm gonna tackle the install myself,

to begin with, I'm looking at a new deck, pair of fronts, 2 channel amp, sub amp, and sub/box, will probably deaden the trunk also

my initial hurdle seems to be with sub selection, I'm very skeptical of both the prefabricated boxes out there as well as the so called custom jobs done by most shops, i currently own a JL Audio Fathom and that is the kind of build quality I'm looking for, in other words, tank like construction

I've narrowed i down to either a Fosgate or JL Audio pre loaded enclosure

rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=17&series_id=56&family_ id=103&item_id=113342&locale=en_US&p_status=

mobile.jlaudio.com/products_enclosures.php?menu=5&prod_id=304

I'm really looking for any insight into either of these two products so any input would be much appreciated

As it seems you are done lurking and ready to get going, add me to msn so I can ask you some questions. The more info you have the better off you are going to be.

Personally I would take the JL box over the RF, but that's just my opinion.....if you want an over-the-top enclosure you will need to go custom made, either DIY or get one made for you.....as for the rest of it, check your PMs......:smokin:

if i had the cash and that car and SQ system is whats after i would love to try morel stuff.

subs either the morel ultimo or the SSA icon. but thats me not you lol but talk with Rob ^^^^ up there and he will set you up with something sick and worth every penny.

ohh plz dont do RF. theyre speaker and subs arent that great anymore. and JL is very pricey compared to other brands of same quality
