Noob that needs advice...

Hey guys. Well, here's the deal. I just got my license and my first car. It's a 05 2dr civic Si. I also just bought a system for it from a friend of a friend.
2 10" Pioneer Premier subs in a nice looking/sounding box, 2 premier amps (prs-d4000f is the 4-channel amp, and it's brand new never used) and the class D mono amp is a prs-d1000m.
Also, he included a 1 farad digital cap, and a roll of dynamat extreme. The only things used are the subs and the sub amp. He showed me how low he kept the power out of the amp. It was even below the manufacturer recommended setting. He said they are relatively new(6 months ish?) and he never bumped them too hard. I heard them, and they sound good, so I took his word for it.
Anyways, I got all this for $520 cash. Good deal? I would think so, considering how damn expensive amps are. Even dynamat is crazy $$$....

Ok, second thing. I'm hunting for a deck. I'm not looking to spend too much (under $250 for sure) but I just want something with high quality. I've narrowed it down to 2 decks. They are both from visions...
One is the pioneer premier dehp500ub, (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Source/CD-Players/Premier/DEH-P500UB)
which is around $220ish, and the other is an alpine iDA-x001 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=iDA-X001) which is going on sale for $200.
So which should I get? I was originally gonna get the premier, but when i heard about the crazy deal on the alpine I started to change my mind.
Like I said, i'm a car audio noob. I haven't even gotten my gear installed in my ride yet, so I don't really know what kind of deck to be looking for....

Also, 1 more thing, where should I get my system installed? Everywhere I go, everyone wants at least $230 ish....
I was hoping to find a deal around $150 or so as I am desperately strapped for cash. I would do it myself, but i have very very little car and car audio experience so i'm rather hesitant. It's a pretty new car, so the last thing i wanna do is f up.
It seems like a simple setup, no?

well, normally i would always go with alpine if i had the choice, but that alpine you mentioned doesn't even play cd's. you would need a changer or sat radio or ipod. second, if i were going to get something from pioneer i would spend a few extra $$ and get the 880prs, currently the dogs ***** from pioneer. if you dont want that, and if you can squeeze it, try for somehting from alpine. like the 9885 (which i have, it's an 07 model) the 9886 (basically the 08 model of the 9885) or the 9887, currently the boner from alpine. a little pricier, but worth the cash. based on the specs, i see nothing wrong with that 500. if you like it, go for it

I would recommend the Alpine 9887. It's a real bargain for what you are getting. Very capable crossover, parametric/graphic eq, solid DAC and lots of expansion options. It's listed at 399 but if you go into the store you can can get them down to 349.

As far as the install, don't go too cheap. You get what you pay for. If you cheap out you'll end up spending more in the long run.

If you want a good deck loaded with features and around $250.00 I would look at the Eclipse cd3200.

That blows. Well, then this deck is out of the question. I would prefer to use my ipod anyways, but cmon, a deck that doesn't play cd's? Gimme a break.

Pioneer Premier 880prs, wow *drools*
It's just too damn expensive. I'm not an audiophile guys, this is my first system and I can't afford these $400+ decks. Trust me I would love to...

The alpine decks you listed. All are very nice, but they don't have a usb connection.... Plus, unlike the alpine idx-001, you have to buy the expensive ipod connector cable....

@Grep, yeah like I said above, the 9887 is nice, but whats with alpine decks and their weak usb/mp3 player support? The ida-x001 is the best one for mp3's imo. Too bad it doesn't play cd's....
The visions is surrey are not very nice when it comes to bargaining. They are pretty f*cking stiff over there.... Maybe Langley?
Are there any other stores I should check out in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area?

Honestly, i'm looking at the premier 500ub, and it has everythig i need including FULL usb support with cable etc etc.
I even compared the 880prs vs the 500 ub on the pioneer site:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/portal/site/POCEN/template.PRODUCT_COMPARISON/?vgnextoid=27e8f92ed3ed4110VgnVCM1000002567a8c0RCR D
and for the extra $200-300, the 8800prs isn't really giving me anything else I need......

BTW, did I get a good deal on the system I purchased?

**** it, i'm going for the Alpine 9886 for $300 (installed). The Premier is nice, but it's a little too plain.

Anyone know where I can get my system installed for a good price? I'm going to try to talk Visions down into a good install deal.

EDIT: One more thing, what kind of wiring will I need for my system?
Again, I am looking to get installed
Two 10" Pioneer Premier subs in a box, 2 premier amps (prs-d4000f is the 4-channel amp,and the class D mono amp is a prs-d1000m), and a 1 farad digital cap.

A buddy told me I will need:
1)A 4gauge kit..
2)Speaker wire (duh)
3)3 RCA's
4)a fuse block because i have two amps

Correct?

It was a little over a decade ago - we were saying the same thing about casette tapes.

Honestly - if you're like me - you have all your songs (and then some) loaded on your iPod anyway.
