Nubb looking to upgrade..HELP!

Looking to get a good head unit right now and slowly upgrade the rest down the road...currently torn between 2 units....i-pod interface is key same with easy functionality for my wife.....i like the looks of the clarion but i was referred to the kenwood instead....

Clarion MAX675VD $1135.00

Kenwood DDX7019 $1340.00

both prices include i-pod cable/instalation/taxes

any input?

also....what would be some half decent speakers to go with this set-up...***no subwoofer to be purchased***

Cheers

WOW! My Kenwood x590 with 24 bit DAC's cost me just over 300 bones. The sound quality is very good, clean and responsive. It has USB interface (I'm not sure if it'll control an Ipod though) It's quit easy to use for the basic functions. The more advanced setup stuff is a little difficult to get to but I like that, it makes it harder for people to make mistakes.

If your on a budget there's no reason to go that expensive. You're just buying the flash and pizazz. I'm not sure what you're installing it into, but basic installation of a HU is really easy. Something you can do yourself or have a friend do for a couple beer.

I love the touch screen capabilities....the flush mount into my dash would look pretty sweet with both set-ups...

I believe these are flip-out units he is looking into.

Actually they're double din models... at least I know the Kenwood is!

Armbender 08-30-2007 08:25 PM

Both are 2-DIN models...I am an upgrade finatic when it comes to my HT system.....I want a HU that will suffice for a few years at least...upgrading to Navigation down the road...very possible....upgrade to amps and higher end speakers a definate...

Yes sorry you are correct. I should have said screen systems :) The Clarion HU's this year have been excellent to me but I have not sold this piece yet so my opinion is just based on there HU's

The Clarion looks good to me.
U.S. price is 659.95, ipod cable another 59.95.
So i suspect that would be about 850.00 canadian? 150 install and 140 tax makes it about 1140. Hope that includes harness or interface?

I'd go alpine if i wanted video and navigation, but thats just because i've had good success with 3 different alpine HU's.

If your looking at kenwood check out the DNX7100, it does everything, it's 2-din, completely expandable, dvd and navigation too.

just looked at it tonight...very nice...but $1840.00 after tax and instalation...
