I thought I read somewhere here, maybe it was BRG, saying he used cutting boards from IKEA as spacers, no MDF dust and no need to paint or resin...

You'll likely find 1/0 heatshrink in either Princess/Home depot, can't remember seeing anything any bigger. I think it was made by GB.

I use these to fill in large holes when Dynamating doors....

They aren't rigid enough to use as spacers, these, on the other hand, are.....

Picked up the crimpers tonight, also found the tape I was looking for, good for -20 up to +80 celc. Going to make the speaker rings myself

and I checked home depot and only found 1/2" Shrink wrap. Oh well. Not important, just going to use the tape. Same .

Still no luck with the bass control ****, might just call it a day and order it on ebay.

and I've also had lackluster luck finding a shop that will bench test an amp for me, just need to make sure its operational, any suggestions here would be appreciated.

Got a spare speaker, a source of some kind with RCA outs and some wire?

Patch it together however you have to, feed it a signal and see if it makes noise....

Not that hard to do, I've tested amps sitting on a board straddling my air cleaner.....

Even an ipod or other MP3 player will supply enough voltage through the headphone jack to drive the amp so you can hear if it's working.....after that it's a matter of hooking it up.
