ohm loads

i have a quad coil sub and im wondering what my ohm load options are..... and i have a mono block amp.

they are 1.5 ohms each.

need more info - what kind of monoblock amp, what do you plan on doing with it? (cuz if you are burping you could drop as low as 0.375 ohms as long as the amp can handle it)

Gen1_Rx7 11-04-2007 03:14 PM

you will probably want a 1.5 ohm load tho using both series and parallel methods

ma audio hk-4000d
loud burps

explain your whole setup- have you upgraded your electrical? are you going to only burp or is this also going to run daily? what are you running for wire? are you running 12 volt -16 volt setup?

1.5 ohms is more than likely what you are gonna wanna run

Prolifik 11-04-2007 03:49 PM

your options are

6 ohm
0.375 ohm
1.5 ohm

all depends on how u wire it. for competition/burping i'd go with 0.375 ohm (absolutely no music), for daily music i'd go with 1.5 ohm.

i could pretty much gaurentee that this amp will not handle 0.375ohms tho, even on sine waves (its rated at 2 ohms @14.4 volts and doesnt like to be dropped too low)

yah maybe, u never know. i'd give it a try for competition purposes even tho its very competition oriented amp.

Even ma's 10kw amp is designed to be run at 2 ohms, i had an hk4000 that was very Protect happy at .5 - 1ohm and fried at .5 ohm (but i didnt have the elecrical to back it + it was a refurb amp) this is why i wanted to know what kinda system he has put together, see if his car can even handle the amp at that power

hk4000d 11-04-2007 09:15 PM

well im gettin one of the batt's that prolifik is selling later this week....and as for wire im going to have 4 runs of 1/0 welders cable ( 2 pos- 2 neg)
stock alt (for now)

and how would i wire it to go down to 0.375 ohms?
