Old school solobarics?

A buddy of mine has 2-12's sitting around that I could prolly scope up for next to nothin. The web site says to stay at about .88 cuft per sub and not to exceed this. Does anybody remember how much bigger you can go if at all before they start to sound like garbage. I've never tried the square ones and honestly have never really been in a rush to try them. Any opinions would be great.

i have fond memories of those subs. they were easy to install and with the right amount of power they sounded great. i think you could safely go about 20% bigger or smaller than .88 without affecting the sound quality too much, but it will affect the power handling. the larger the box the less power, the smaller the more power, within reason of course. :)

cool cuz I'm about 1.2cuft minus the sub and the amp does 420@2ohms, projected anyways as I havent got the birthsheet from it yet but according to most kicker usually ends up a lil more then rated.
