Which one???

Alright dudes and dudets (if there are any?) haha. I need help choosing a new amp. I have decided that I do not want to hook my blaupunkt amp up to my new kickers (they came today and they look too pretty to risk). Sooo, I decided to purchase a new amp but I can't choose between these:

Adjustable Pre-Out High-Pass Crossover (12dB/octave, 30-500Hz)

Subsonic Filter (0–80Hz)

Free-Flow Signal Circuit

Laser-cut top plate

High-Current, High-Speed Output Devices

Audiophile Grade Component Selection

Protection Circuitry

High level or low level inputs (125mV-10V)

PreAmp Signal Transfer (PAST) RCA outputs

Delayed turn-off logic circuit

Soft start turn-on circuit for reduced startup load

Short circuit, Over-voltage, Reverse polarity, Thermal overload (SORT) protection

Fully CEA-2006 compliant specifications for real-world power

The eclipse is $10 more. I like both kicker and eclipse and in my opinion eclipse beats kicker when it comes down to sq (It is close though). BUT, I don't know about the features of these amps and if anyone has had experiance with either of these give me yer opinions. Thanx for the help.

What are your speakers rated at power wise?

Haunz 09-25-2006 07:14 PM

both amps are pretty much going to preform the same...

whats wrong with the blau amp ?

The Blaupunkt Amp - Well, a while ago I tested it in my bros truck with some speakers and it sounded perfectly normal. But after the dude that was going to buy it said he didn't want it I hooked up a 10" kicker cvr sub to it and it started making a wierd noise. But with the beat. Just kindof like a low scratching noise as the sub moved in and out. I remember back when it did the same thing to my two 10" eclipses and I am beginning to wonder if that is why my old lightning audio speakers now have a very annoying scratchy noise (the cone rubs on the tweeter holder that goes through the middle of the cone, never did that before it was hooked to the amp). So I don't want to ruin my new speakers. I am glad that the dude cancelled to buy the amp cuz I woulda felt horrid if I sold it to him and it started to sound like ****.

The speakers are 65 watts rms.

not talking down on you but it kinda sounds like you sure come across alot of blown speakers .

Looks like either amp will do you fine then. You won't be able to hear a difference between the two so either buy the one that is cheaper or buy the one you like the look of better.

go with the one you like
have you looked at all the amps out there or did you just go to one store?

Haunz 09-26-2006 12:53 AM

well, Id check all connections 3x... at least before buying a new amp....... the blau worked in bros truck but failed in yours.... and its acting up with differnt speakers, not just the 6.5's... well IMO that pretty much narrows it down to a bad RCA connection.... sig ground hitting power ground does exactly what you describe.... induces noise... from audible alt whine, static, subsonics... ect ect

just something to check (at both ends of every rca in the chain)....

After playing with the new Eclipse amps, I can say that they are a amp I would use in my own system. I like the fact that they have made them able to mount side by side and have all of the inputs and outputs along one side. This makes for a easy amp rack in the future. I think the Eclipse would be a good choice for you.

NO CRAP DUDE! I really really really don't know what the heck is going on. BUT, before I installed my ultimate amp I redid the rca's and found that it was pinched between a screw. Do you guys think that this could do some wierd stuff with the subwoofers cuz like theif said, I have had a hard fricken time with my equipment. (haha, and not to change the subject)
