I was told that alot of ppl on this website have great wisdom about different name brands. So i got a question about this subwoofer:

http://www.cardomain.com/item/ORI27303

If you don't feel like visiting the link it is a 10" 2,000Wrms Orion Subwoofer. I haven't really heard much about orion but it is on a massive sale and i will forsurely buy one if you guys recomend it.

I was wondering also: i have never heard of such a loud subwoofer being installed into a sealed box. The website says the sealed box dimensions are .33-.66 cubic inches of space!!! that is less than my 300Wrms Subs!! I make all of my own boxes and so far they have all been sealed and i do wish to find out how to calculate "tuned" and "ported" boxes but i just don't have the time. Does everyone recomend that i go with a ported box or do you guys think a sealed box would work alright for me?

(any suggested websites that are good for learning how to make ported boxes?)

H2's do well in sealed enclosure's but really shine in ported enclsoure's.

With the correct enclosure great SQ and/or loads of SPL are achievable with this driver.
It is a very efficient driver that can work great on 1200rms but can also take a good beating so if you have 2500rms to throw at it then go ahead.

Orion is rather optimistic with their enclosure sizes listed for this driver though and for optimal performance you will want to go slightly larger than recommended.

Most guys running sealed enclosure's have been happy with SQ and output with the H2 ten when at 0.75-1.0net.
Ported with 1.0-1.5net.

With the right enclosure this driver is a very good performer both in SQ and SPL abilities and at the prices Sounddomain is selling them at these days I would definitely recommend them.
Hell grab an Orion amp while you're there also because they're great pieces also and at great prices.

I think CarDomain should pay you to review their products, better written than most reviews on that site.

Those are nice subs... but I questioned Orions tech support/customer service since Grizz got screwed around when his blew a connection....

Why not do yourself a favour and buy the 15" model instead of the 10"... ? :D

Wow at that price ya better buy four of 'em!

Yep, it's a good woofer. Treat it right, it'll treat you right. Treat it wrong and... :(

The power thing is true, they want gobs of power. Mine's a 12in. 2ohm DVC. I had it hooked up to one 1200D amp at 1 ohm and with me abusing it at competitions, it eventually gave out. Sent it in for warranty as it was under a year old, and they sold me one at "half price", so it cost me over $300 for the replacement. They can't fix or recone them if they're broke, as they are made in China.

But at that price on SoundDomain, I'd just chuck it and install another one.

Now I have two 1200D amps, have tried the sub at 4 ohms and 2, increasing ohms increase SQ substantially. Currently I'm running it at 2 ohms, 1450w total, as the 4 ohm, 850w while sounding great, just didn't go loud enough for me. I'll try it at 1 ohm (2400w) once I have an alternator that can handle it.

I started with mine in a sealed box, and was hitting 134's with it in my big ol' van. Then I got an SPL box and am hittng 145's, and I like the sound better out of my ported box (with SQ plug in, my box is tuned at ~50hz for comp, and ~33 with an SQ plug closing off one of the ports). That was all off my one 1200D amp, I haven't metered the van since I got my second amp.

Would I buy another? Maybe, if I found a screamin' deal like that. But no, my next sub purchase will probably be two 15's that aren't as "Super" as an H2. I figure more cone area should compensate quite nicely for the drop in power handling.

LOL </font>[/QUOTE]Ben doesn't mention enclosure size these were tested it.
And if you look closely you may see that when it comes to average SPL the H2 was higher than the ID Max which is one of the most sensitive high power driver's available.
So can this driver take a load of power? Yes. But it does quite well on only 1200watts also. I think Grizz's 145dB with one H2 12 and 1200rms in a big van is pretty darn loud.

Well, i took up the chance and purchased one. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET IT! All i can think about in school is how much it will boom. I think i got ripped off when i bought the warranty ($22) but i just thought of what i would feel like if it just stopped working one day. WOW that would suck.
