the power series JBL are one notch above the Reference series Infinity. They're both owned by Harman International and are both excellent speakers in their price range from a sound point of view and build quality. I've owned both, and depending on your taste, I would consider that the Infinity's use a soft dome textile tweeter, as opposed to the Jbl's titanium dome(metal). If you like your highs sharper, crisper, and just plain brighter...go JBL, if you like them softer...Infiinity. Both sound good! The power series JBL are equivalent to the kappa series Infinitys.

by the way, you might want to check out crutchfield canada...alot more variety, and they have the new versions of the Infinity speakers cheaper there than at future shop.

infinity makes a realy good speaker. i have 4/6 kappa plates in front and i couldnt be happier with them, deffinitaly consider the hop from reference to kappa series.

Depends on what you consider nice.
What kind of music do you listen to ?

veeman 08-03-2007 10:19 AM

if you want super sizzle, go titanium...sounds more like a club, or loud concert. If you want nice highs that won't make your ears bleed, go soft dome...more like the sound you get from an orchestra...clean and clear, possibly a little more accurate overall...again depends on where and what you listen to. I personally love titanium domes, or in my current system MMD( metal matrix diaphragm) which is a treated aluminum tweeter. Anyway, my suggestion is to go listen to the two with the type of music you like and then decide.
