Question

right now i'm using two ported 10w6v2s each running off it's own zapco 500/1. i'm looking for something a little louder and am considering an re se, w7, and idmax. from my research i've read that the max is good with low power so i'm kind of leaning towards it but some people have posted about misaligned voice coils and that's making me think twice. any thoughts?

are you just replacing the pair of 10's with a single sub? if so i assme it will be a 12 or larger... Id max is a good sub, however it will be on par if not lesser in output compared to the w6's. Some may argue differently but ive tried it and all said and done its a great woofer but no means have more output than a pair of w6v2 10's. Same goes with the w7. I say keep em.. try a diff box...

Unless you just want a change, then I'd try a single RE XXX 15 with 1 amp per coil

Try to avoid using an amp per coil. You are asking for the dvc sub to destroy itself.

You would be better off using one amp per sub.

How would it destroy itself? I am no expert but I have heard that it won't make a difference. Josh Laine, an Adire Audio dealer told me it was fine :S

not setting the gains equaly could make the sub kill it self by not having equal power.

2 W6's arnt loud enough? heh man i find my one 10L5 too loud at times.

but yah id try a differnt box or maybe addign a bit mroe power cause thouse thigns can take quite a bit.

no, i'm replacing a pair for a pair. so a pair of idmaxs would have more output then a pair of w6v2's right?

How loud are you looking for? I mean I had 1 15 with 2000 watts so loud that I couldn't stand it even though I'm 1/2 deaf

You might want to look into more power if you are trying to get more volume out of speakers.
