Hi, i'm new to the forum and i just have a question and would appreciate some feedback.
In my car now i have the alpine 9887 deck, type-x 6.5 upfront and type-S in the rear. I'm using the PDX 4.150 to power the speakers.
I'm not a huge on bass, but i recently did the multiEQ tuning thats available on the alpine deck. The sound curve has leveled out because of the tuning, which is great, but with it i've really noticed the lack of bass. The tuning removed the low ends in my component speakers up front. I've decided to get a sub, not for SPL but more for SQ.
The dealer i go to has a deal on now for a JL10w1 and a JL 250w amp (i can't remember the name of it, but its JL's lowest end amp) for $399. They also have a sale going on and i could get the Alpine PDX 1.600, with the 10" type-x sub in a ported Hammer sub box for $1040 (both not including install or wirekit - the alpine setup is 1340 all together)
I'm just wondering what you guys think of these 2 options, and if you have any other suggestions for a setup?
thanks

If you're only looking for a little more bump then the JL setup is more than adequate and those subs do sound really good, they just don't get that loud.
The alpine stuff you mentioned is kick *** too and will get much louder but is also much more expensive.
Personally I'd run the type "S" off the deck power leave your type "X"'s on the two channels of the PDX and then use the other two channels of the PDX to power a sub, something with an RMS of 350 or so in a well built box will work perfect.
and don't be afraid to lower the highpass on those type X's a little, if they sounded fine before don't let software tell you what sounds best to you.

thanks for the output guys
yeah.. MTT the type-s's in the don't really need the wattage.. i was planning on running them right from the deck.. that opens up my options more, i could, like you said get a sub in the 350rms range. what would you recommend getting that will give off decent bump but maintains SQ? would type r's suffice?

I'm not a good one to answer that for you, I'm not a huge Alpine speaker fan, and looking at the specs, maybe the 10 inch type R would be okay.
df Dima, a member on this site was selling a really nice SQ sub on here, not sure if he still has it but it was a good deal from a stand up guy...
....others will chime in with other opinions on subs I'm sure.
