Opinions on 6.5" components

Hey,

I am looking at getting a new set of components. I have done some research and in my price range I have narrowed it down to these:

Boston Acoustics SX60
Polk Audio DB6500
Alpine SPR-17LS
pioneer TS-C160R
MB Quart DSF 216

Anyone have opinions on which one of these is best, or maybe have a better one in mind in that is comparable in price with these?

Thanks!

These all seem like reputable speakers. My suggestion would be to let your ears & wallet be the judge as you will be the one paying for them & listening to them.
It's OK to take advice from people but don't let the advice be the deciding factor in your decision, trust your ears & your own judgement.
Oh, and by the way, the Pioneer TS-C160R are a great set & a really good value (I have them front & rear in my own car)!

I really like the Boston, but the 6.5 has a large mounting area. Not ideal for kick panels, but if its for doors they'll perform awesome.

Whats in your price and intallation range? Mounting depth a problem. There are 2 ohm component sets which maybe useful to you to get more power out of your amplifier. There are also neo drivers out there which can fit your intstallation.

I think I have decided on ones I didnt even list. MB Quart RCE 216. I found them within my price range new ($200ish). I have roughly 2.5inches mounting depth available to me and they are 2.2 inches. My only question is, I have an amp that puts out 150x2 rms at 4 ohm and these components are only rated for 60-130w rms, will my amp be too much for them to handle? Shoudl I look at getting a differant amp?

Any comments on the MB Quart RCE 216 comps?

I would suggest you go listen to them first.
I run MBQuarts and like them but I am using the Q line.
I have heard many people make reference to the Quarts being to bright or scratchy due to there titainium tweets but I dont know if thats just their lower lines or??? You really need to go listen to them and if you like them then get-em. I would say as far as quality the Quarts are probably as good as any. As far as power goes a little more is a good thing:thumbsup:
Just my $.02

The only problem with going to listen to them for me is that I live in New Brunswick and as far as I know the only dealer in NB is futureshop and they only carry like one model of the MB Quarts. So the option of listening to the exact model I want is basically impossible and this is why I need peoples opinions and reviews.

Thanks for the info. I will go listen to the Discuss line at futureshop this weekend and see how they sound...give me a general idea at least.

power is good, just gain the amp properly. Listen to the speaker before buying.

Excellent advice!!! I'm still completely baffled by people that buy a speaker without ever hearing it. Follow the above advice and you'll be happy.
