^^ irrelevant, if you are not using the internal amp. My question is in regards to the actual components that create the sweet music. Does it have 24 bit processing, better quality parts etc...The reason I ask, is that I have a 9827, which I love because I like to change discs frequently and it isn't full of too many bells and whistles. I don't like fold down faces, but Defro claims that the 9833 is 10x better, I would just like to know if this is based on features or performance. If it is features, then I won't be changing my unit, but since I highly respect Defro's Alpine knowledge, if he says that it has better parts inside then I will definitely consider getting it. Anyone who knows for sure, please post.

I too am in the market for a new HU and after hearing a friends Alpine I think this is the deck to get. You guys like the 9833 , but I'm also looking at the 9835...is it that much better than the 33 for the price??? Thanks

1- The 9835 and 9833 have both 6 x 1bit D/A converters as opposed of 2 x 1 bit (except for the F1 and DVD) for the rest of the line. That should make a difference in term of processing power.

2- The 9835 and 9833 share the exact same internals except the 9835 have a DC/DC converter for supplying power to the vaccum display. So there are basically the same machine except the display and the fact that you can save about $100.

where was this information? Is this something you heard or do you know this to be true? Some references if you have them would be great, or links to the information.

digital 6 channel time correction on the 9833/35

5 band parametric EQ

digital X-over control for staging.
9835Front/Rear/Sub

instead of 9833 high/mid/low

(I have been told the 9833 can be done this way also f/r/s but I haven't tried it personally. chassis switch)

9831 =Channel Separation (1kHz) : 85dB
DAC Type / Number of DACs : Regulated 1-Bit / 2
Dynamic Range (1kHz) : 95dB
Frequency Response : 5-20k Hz (±1 dB)
Oversampling : 8X/352.8kHz
Sampling Rate : 44.1kHz
Signal-to-Noise (S/N) : 105dB
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) : 0.008% (at 1kHz)
Wow & Flutter (%WRMS) : B.M.L

9835 =Channel Separation (1kHz) : 85dB
DAC Type / Number of DACs : Regulated 1-Bit / 6
Dynamic Range (1kHz) : 95dB
Frequency Response : 5-20k Hz (±1 dB)
Oversampling : 8X/352.8kHz
Sampling Rate : 44.1kHz
Signal-to-Noise (S/N) : 105dB
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) : 0.008% (at 1kHz)
Wow & Flutter (%WRMS) : B.M.L

Both HU's are rated as 4volt/10k Ohm but the CDA9833 and CDA9835 are 4volt/300 ohm. The manual is misprinted and Dave MacKinnon posted about this a while back (actual benchtest 4volt/@330 ohm if I remember exactly)

BTW all these numbers came from Alpines website

Hey Lethal thanks a lot, i just have to compare the performance specs to my 9827 and then I can decide if I should change it. The 6 DACs in the 9835 sound pretty impressive. Is this also in the 9833, i kinda like that one cause I don't like pictures on the screen. Also the 9833 matches my interior better.

Veeman your welcome.

Yes. 6 DACS Also available in the CDA9833. Both units have a blackout option. Hold the DISP button (up and to the right of the SOURCE button) until you hear a beep. It will blackout the main display until a button or the volume is adjusted. The screen will light back up and the blackout again until touched again.

Particularly usefull at the Drive-In as well as tinted windows

The Bio-Lite is really much easier to use for tuning and tweaking. Easier interface really.
