Dv8ion well let me give some input.
i personally OWN a 9831 i picked it up brand new w/o manual for 320 cdn and got a yr warranty. I AM not even using the internal amp in the deck except for rear fill everythign is running off the preouts amps for fronts and amp for sub. the 9831 is an awesome deck the 9835 is just a bit better. the salesmen convinced me to get the 9831 over the 9835 when i was their. i luv my 9831 and ive heard the 9835 to me not much of a differnce in sQ u can just tweak the eq a bit more in the 9835. but if your a really into car audio and are a hard core person you would be using a external eq with way more than 5 bands. anyways thats just my opinion. also the 9835 sounds better than the 9831 if u were usign stock speakers in a car. but all that can change when u get external amps.

my 9827 has blackout as well as most of the other features, not nearly as good an eq though. The part i'm interested in is the 6 DACs, since the best source potentially yields the best sound. I think Defro mentioned that they are changing the line and that 9833s may be sold relatively cheap. This is probably a good time to grab one.

thanks for the specs.
does anyone know the number of DACs for the cda-7995. it's not listed in the manual or alpines site as far as i can see.
if the cda-9831 has the same processing as my current head unit (7995) i will go with that.
