Opinions Req'd on components

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site, and seriously out of the car audio loop. I'm looking for an upgrade to my 07 kia spectra. Can anyone help me out? This is what I was thinking. New HU, MP3, New speakers front and rear, and a sub. I'm looking at spending no more than 1500 on everything. Given this, what would you guru's recommend as far as components? I appreciate your input. Thanks. Oh, and I'm looking for a green illumination to match the factory gauges. Also, should I run new speaker wire, or can I use the existing factory wire?

The factory speaker wire will be fine unless you are going to be throwing an amplifier on the front speakers. For the front speakers, do you have a separate location for mounting a tweeter or would you prefer to go with a good coax type speaker? A good system would start with a good set of front speakers, an amp on them, a moderate set of rear speakers, a sub (use a 4 channel amp and power the front speakers and sub with it), then a appropriate cd player. For green illumination Blaupunkt makes a really nice little cd player that would suit this application. It has front / rear / sub preouts, 10 second anti skip memory, any color under the sun illumination and it both sounds good and is built solid. It is also not overly expensive, allowing you to explore the better speakers for the front. Speaker size should be a 6.75' up front and a 5x7 (6x8) in the rear. A single 10" or 12" sub should be more than enough to give you the bass response you require. This type of system is also fully upgradeable in the future with no need to throw things out. Does Ipod control interest you at all?

How about a Chevy??? LOL, Couldn't resist.....

Lots of good components out there, go look/listen. Alpine makes a good set. MB quart, etc.etc., etc. spend as much as you can afford on the front speakers and get them installed properly.

Yup, you need a good head unit. My alpine changes colour. I matched the bluey/green in my car prefectly.
Go with amp for components and amp for sub. I also suggest a cd/mp3changer.
