Opinions on Thump! Cheap-ass Amps
Hey CCA'ers...
As you've probably gathered from my many posts lately, I am looking for an amp that will do ~200w RMS by 1 channel, to push a 12" RF XLC 12 sub.
Now, the problem is that its my younger brother who's doing this, and so he doesn't have the cash to go buy, say an Alpine class D mono block to push this setup, he needs to stay under $100.
Now, I see that XS Cargo (shudder) is pimping their Thump! 450w amp. I did some searching and found this site that says the amp does 110w RMSx2 @ 4ohms. This would do perfectly as it should push ~220wRMS when bridged @4ohms.
However, I have never had any experience with Thump! or any other of these cheap-*** brands. My personal systems have always been Pioneer Premier decks and RF subs/amps - I am not fooling myself, I don't expect to win any Db competitions, all I want is to get some good power (as close to the 200wRMS max of the sub) as possible.
Your thoughts?

I've used one of the amps, the "350" watt version, although it was more like 80 x 2, or even less who knows, aside from the fact that it has no crossovers filters...or anything other then a gain control and an option to put it to mono, it was good for the price. I paid like 40-50 for it, ran 4 speakers (left side and right side wired to 2 ohm on each channel) and it didn't get hot, blow up, cut out or anything.
Sure it doesn't compare to those big expensive amps, but hey as long as you're not stupid with it, it should last long enough.
