over powering a sub
ok so i got this all figured out. so my subs are 800 rms at 4 ohms and im going to wire parallel. so i found an amp that powers 900 rms at 2 ohms. will this over power it if each sub has an extra 50 watt? the peak of the amp is 200 watt below peak of my subs tho

If you have 2 subs rated at 800Wrms each; you want an amp that puts out 1600WRMS at 2ohms.

ops yeah i meant 400 rms at 4 ohms each. So i was searching and if i turn down the gain a bit they should be good to go and i wont blow them?
|
An extra 50Wrms per sub will not hurt anything. You will not see the full power to the subs anyways unless you are running your system at 100% volume all the time which is highly unlikely.

i have a 400rms sub running off a 700 rms amp.....wrks great no issues.
just dont crank up the gain on teh amp or blast the music too lound, but ya 50 more per sub not a problem |
