overkill?
Alright i went to my local installer in orleans, ottawa and he told me even if all the setup on my amp is at o including the gain, my amp is still overkilling the sub's and i should ether change the subs or amp. Anyways i guess i have to let you know what my setup is...
Alpine MRD-M1001 (1000rms)
2 10inch infinity kappa perfect (4ohms i belive)
dont know if the rest of the info his useless but pioneer 3900mp deck, 4 gauge wiring kit (phoenix gold) 1farad monster cap, vented box the whole in a 2003 alero
I have read on the net that these subs are build like a tank and can handle lot of rms but is 1000 to much? if someone whit these subs could let me know what they have like amp and how it is working for them or ppl advise on the setup overkill or not? should i change something or not?

set-up
I ran that set up for a while except I had the MRD1005 with the perfects and pounded the crap out of them and they handled it no problem. Never had any damage to either the subs or the amp, so I say he is full of . Keep that set up.

If I'm not mistaken, as long as your not cranking your volume/bass settings, and set your amp gain proper to your head unit, then your not gonna blow your voice coils. High powered amps have the potential to destroy a low power speaker/sub, if you push it that far. I'd look at it this way, you have more room to upgrade/add to your system.
Amps don't blow speakers, idiots do.

Well put. What I don't understand is how exactly does this guy think you would be "overkilling" your subs with your gain set at zero? How are you gonna get any power out of it if you have next to nothing for input sensitivity...
