Overpowering subs.
Hey, I have a JBL1200.1 on the way which will power my 10's for the time being. I have 2 Alpine ZR 10's which have an RMS of 300 watts. I'd be giving them 600 each. The enclosure there in is a big ported box tuned to 38hz. Would I be safe to run the subs like this with no SSF or should I put them in a small 1 cu ft sealed box I have? Thanks.

Well that depends - you have to honestly evaluate how you listen to music and how you treat your gear.
Personally I would be safe with that amp on a 100watt 8 because I can control myself and know when to reel in the power before stuff gets damaged. If it sounds bad, turn it down.
If you listen more a 25 out of 30 than 17 out of 30 and like to pour on the power to impress people then it may not be a good idea.

Doesn't the SWR series carry a 1000 watt thermal rating ? I've seen many dual Type-R/JBL BP1200.1 set-ups and those Type-Rs weren't blowing, but then my friend has also blown a Type-R with 500 RMS (Mind you, bass boost was set to +18 dB and gains were set to 0.2V with 4V pre-outs). Big box + high tuning = very low power handling below tuning. Watch your gains, watch what you play
