Pdx 1.1000 go into safety circuit at 30 volume
 

Just installed my alpine pdx 1.1000 and 2 alpine type x subs. Sounds good however when i put the volume up to around 30 which is about the loudest i listen at seeing my door speakers arent ampd the amps go into safety circuit. It cant be overheating, i'm starting to wonder if i have bad speaker wire.
Any help?

the 2 things that come to my mind are load to low and voltage drop...

So are the 2 type X wired down to 2ohms?

Could you measure with a voltmeter (DMM) at the amp power input terminals to see if the voltage drop under 12V when playing at high level.

yes they are wired down to 2 ohms......and i havent measured the voltage drop.

my 1000.1 was going into protect with some 2 ohm load... my IDMAX was ok but others would simply put it in protect as soon the volume was starting to be good... Is it the same problem, maybe? try with one sub, this will give you a 4ohm load and the amp should take it like a champ

But first use a DMM to determine if you have an important voltage drop when you crank it, if you do look at your wiring (bad ground is a common cause).

BTW in your case a single TypeX should sound exaclty the same as 2 TypeX since you will have only 500w per sub with 2 VS 1000w going to one. To get the max of both you will need a second PDX

Type X's are only Dual 4. it's likely wired to one ohm. You need to get it up to 4 ohms.

^^yeah, the x's are dual 4ohm meaning if they (2 of them) are all wired parallel you'll end up with a 1ohm final load which that amp is not rated for and will shut down with high volume.

ya but i have each type x being pushed by a pdx 1.1000 ....the 2 diagrams shown for one sub and one amp were either 8ohms or 2 ohms. And it goes great up until about volume 30 then it just kicks out so im ruling out a bad ground.

What gauge power and ground are you using for 2 PDX1000's amps?

1/0 from battery to distribution block then 4 gauge to the amp itself. And 4 gauge grounds. Just went for a 15 minute or so drive also and the amps seemed to be running fairly warm im new to the audio world tho so im not sure what temperature amps usually run at.

the PDX11000's are also not very stable at 2 ohms. Just turn the gains back slightly and you should be good to go.
