PDX Amplifiers by alpine
Are these amps any good , what would you guys compare them to ?

The PDX series by Alpine are great amps. Heard the pdx150.4 and the pdx1000.1
in a truck cranked up for almost 1/2 hour, barely warm to the touch. Nice clean power, a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for. Great SQ amps. I currently have the bpx500.1 crown amp running my subs, it is a great amp, runs a bit hotter than the pdx series, but would compare it to the pdx. I am currently torn between the pdx, bpx, and zapco's new digital line, but I think zapco will win this one. my 2 cents worth... |
The pdx's are a great amp...I have played with one for a short period of time, and I liked it, the only major set backs are that I know of, they heat up BAD, but never shut off, They are stackable (even though they are tiny as it is) I personally like the fact that they literally made it Almost idiot proof to ruin one, but making the plugs for the positive and negetive Highly labelled and only going in one way:D...Compared to...well..1005 mrd :D

They should be using the same circuit design that Eclipse has had out for a couple of years now, they have long since proven to be a great amp and I think the Alpine should follow suit. I too have heard of heat issues with such a small chassis and the stacking situation would compound that issue. All in all, my bet is that they are a great amp.

Heat isn;t huge issue, these amps are 89+% effecient
Dave Mac tested one in last months PAS mag. |
....and they are stackable, and they are all the same size, and they are sexylooing amps....and on and on!
