Phoenix Gold XS2500

Hey Guys and Gals,

It's been a long time since I've been on this site had 2 kids and what not ate up all my extra funds! lol... Anyway I had a question, I noticed one day a Car amp.. Phoenix Gold XS2500 sitting in the recycle, which is my job at the University.. so decided hell I will keep it seems in solid shape... Got back to shop found a computer pc power supply to see if she would power up to my surprise it did! Brought it home tried it on a 12 volt 42ah battery and seems to work and crank out the power.. However here's my question(s)... They some how melted the outta the negative terminal, maybe hoping to destroy it and it didn't work...The board looks unharmed it actually looks damn near brand new inside, also the bass **** is broken off... I noticed when it is running and really giving a load you can hear a slight humming/buzzing noise from it, not from the speakers but the amp itself not very loud but if you put your ear to it you can hear it....Any idea's what it could be? Also what's your views on this amp in general from my research it's from 98-99 era maybe abit older?

Thanks again!!!!

Doug

Hmm playing with it further I do seem to have a steady hum coming from it... when it's completely turned down...
