No it doesn't but you should not be driving and watching anyways. The laws are changing and you may be fined for doing so.

 

The newer models of in-dash screens have changed a bit... For the 5700DVD at least, you have to pull the park brake up, release it and then pull it up again to unlock the screen. This is probably to prevent people from just grounding the p. brake wire.

 

6600DVD works the same. Park, Release, Park. Keep in mind you can get a hefty fine for that, possibly traffic tickets. I think it's going to be a major problem as these systems keep coming down in price.

 

Actually, the AVH-P6600DVD & AVH-P5700DVD are different as it relates to the parking brake wire as the AVH-P6600DVD was from 2004 & the AVH-P5700DVD is from 2005.
The AVH-P6600DVD does NOT have the same level of security as the AVH-P5700DVD & does not require to see a "pulse" on the parking brake wire.
The CEA (Consumer Electronics Association) is working on a mandate for in-dash monitors. More than likely they will only be for "driver information" (i.e. navigation)while "entertainment" (i.e. video playback) will only be available for rear-seat viewing.

 

The AVH-P7600DVD is the same set up as the AVH-P5700DVD. One thing I did notice on my AVH-P7600DVD is that it will not alow you to do certain audio functions unless you do the sequence to unlock the screen. For example you can't adjust your speaker levels, sub, center any of them.
