Pioneer deck skipping on big bass...
 

hey, my Pioneer DEH-4800MP will skip on almost half the big bass notes if I really pump the system(way past my normal listening levels).. I am only using MP3 cds(128k - 320K), sometimes it takes about 3-4 seconds to get going again.. Its skipping for sure and is not another issue(Sirius or ext source to Aux will never skip).

Is this a problem with most head units today or just the lower end ones like mine? Or are all of you pretty much running ipods now? What if you have this problem and your competing, I didnt think most of the leagues allowed ipods?

Anyone using the DEH-P9800BT? I'd like one of those...

it could be due to voltage drop.

you should try securing your deck better together with upgrading your battery to frame ground.

or u can just get a changer

voltage drop was my last problem, all electrical upgraded and rock solid.. now the bass just hits harder and skips the cd player.. doesnt happen when i run rcas in from a ext source to deck or tuned to sat, deck is always on and functional when cd is skipping..

I guess this deck is either a POS or I need to dampen/remount the deck...

btw, this is when its really heavy, doesnt happen unless system is almost full out..

lol dude ofcourse it would only skip if there is a cd in it, it would not skip on radio. turn it up and put a multemeter to the battery, see what it drops to.

i suggest a changer

I ment its the cd function for sure and not the deck loosing power.. I'll do some more testing. Thanks!

well the cd function is the one that gets most affected by the voltage drop.

but see what it drops to.

If your voltage is fine, I have heard some guys putting a backstrap on the CD player. makes it harder to steal + adds some support. Not sure if it would fix this problem because the bass is soo extreme but just another option.

I've never put a back strap on, but I would guess it's a pain in the ass too LOL.

My HU cd skips if i hit a hard enough bump. But my cd changers never skip.

Thats a problem with MP3's, when it skips, it takes 3-4seconds for the decoder to re-sync and play again. If it was a real CD, it skips, less than a second.

alright voltage never drops below 13 when its skipping, if I pop the trunk and aim the box outside so it doesn't rattle the car its fine. Doesn't even feel like that area of my dash is rattling that much, I guess this cd player is a POS...

Any opinions on the DEH-P9800BT? Looks nice, built in voltmeter, bluetooth, sub mono/stereo switch.. Just dont want the same problem with skipping.. The only thing else I hate about these pioneer decks is you can't disable the LPF all together if you just want to use the LPF on the amp(unless you dont use the sub channel and loose the ability to control the sub level).
