Pioneer DEH-P8600MP or Pioneer P80MP?
 

I am looking at buying a new deck (upgrading from a Pioneer 3800MP), which deck is better, the Pioneer P8600MP or the Pioneer P80MP?
Both are the same price, so which one should I go for?

I had the 860 (premier version of the 8600) and loved it. The only difference it had over the 8600 was higher pre out voltage and two year warranty. I just bought an 880, you should check that one out. It has more equalization options than the 860, but the 860 is a little more flashy. Depends on what you want.

Yeah, I have been looking at the 880PRS. It looks quite sleek, and supposedly the SQ is amazing. If I did go with that deck, it would be another $200 over the P80MP or the 8600MP... A little more than I want to spend, and it would be coming from the US, so I would have to pay duties on that too.
I may be adding some CDT EF-61CF's powered by a Kicker KX350.4 just for the front.

Right now I have a Kenwood KAC-8152D powering two Infinity 10.1 Kappa Perfects in a sealed box, ran by my Pioneer 3800MP which is a great unit, needs more EQ customizations.

I got my 880 and ipod adapter for 550 including shipping, taxes, duties, etc. For 200 more, if your on a budget, the 8600 would be a great choice too. As far as the front stage setup, I got a pair of ef-61cf's myself sitting in my room waiting to go in. Just waiting on my fi bl 15 to come in and a little more free time to do my install :)

I'm quite pleased with my 8600, and as far as eq settings go it's 13 band as opposed to 3 band parametric, aswell the crossovers have more options.
Oh and don't forget the auto eq and time alignment that are lacking on the p80mp.

Well, I bought the 8600MP. The 880PRS is out of my price range right now. One more advantage that I found for the 8600MP is that it has 24bit burr brown DAC's, vs the P80MP's 16bit DAC's. Either way, its a major upgrade from my 3800MP.

Ya, for 300-350 bones you can't beat an 8600. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine. I'm gonna miss the ability to download my own video clips/pics. A little viewing pleasure on the drive made it nicer...oh god, I've said to much already. Anyways, enjoy!

I picked mine up off of ebay for $235 shipped, in canada too!
Has a little wear, but doesn't matter much to me!
