I had posted a big long blah about what might be broken.. then I looked at the pics with an editing program (too dark for my monitor).. I see the hooking piece that you are missing.. don't they include permanent faceplate mounting screws in the box?? That could be an option..

I haven't tested it yet, but I couldn't find a host to get s good shot of the 2nd pic.
I had it in high res and u can see the crack, so im assuming the display in general is broken, even if the back can be fixed.

Like it was said.. try to find someone with the same deck as you and try it out.. push and hold it right on then turn on the deck. If there is no love, then that darn faceplate IS broken!

Same thing happened with my first cd deck..which was a koss. The peice snapped at the same spot and wouldn't make a contact.

one reason why I don't like detatch faces.

A friend of mine had the same problem with his pioneer deck, the face didn't mount properly to the deck anymore, and the display keeps blacking out.

He wound up getting a new faceplate from a dealer, not sure if it was covered under warantee or not.

The second problem, is that the display actually has a tiny crack, in the picture, liike at the bottom right corner of the DISPLAY and u can see the crack, and it kinda looks like it goes onto the screen, but u can only see it in a certain light, and I couldn't really get a good pic of that. But you can see the crack in the picture.

So basically it looks like the faceplate is pretty much un fixable, and I need to get a new one, which is ok. I plan on trying to get a newer 6500 plate, wonder if it'll work?
6500 will not work on a 6400 deck different latching mech.s on them tried myself!!

Thanks for the info, good thing I didn't buy a 6500 face (which was what I was planning to do).
