Pioneer TS-W306C vs. Coustic CF1244 Advice!?

Hi Guys,

I currently have two 12" Pioneer TS-W206C subs in a sealed box. (150 RMS to each at 4 ohms) My amp is a Coustic 1200S capable of 150 x 2 @ 4 ohms, 300 x 2 @ 2 ohms, or 600 x 1 @ 4 ohms.

The problem here is the pioneer 12's which I currently have can handle 400 rms, but I can only send them 150 each. Having said that I can get two Coustic CF1244 DVC subs capable of 400 rms each. So since they're 4 ohm DVC I can run them bridged for the 600 watts @ 4 ohms.

What do you think, should I go for the Coustic or stay Pioneer? I need to know before Friday :)

Thanks Guys!

by getting the new subs you will increase your RMS power by 50%, that will net you abotu 1.5db gain over the setup you have now iirc (doubling the power is like a 3db gain...)

Wow, that really doesn't sound like a lot. Do you think it's worth the hassle of buying new subs/box and selling the old ones?

Keep the subs, save that money that you were going to spend on new subs, add some more to it in a month or so and buy a bigger sub amp. Then use the amp you have now to run the front speakers when you add the bigger sub amp.

So generally it's better to buy a bigger amp than spend on the different subs?

Just FYI, I can get the two CF1244 12" subs with a custom box for $160CND, and I am sure I can sell my new Pioneer TS-W306C 12"s with box for more !?

Are the other subs new or used? If used, you might be inheriting someone elses garbage and just have to replace them in a months time. If new, try them on your existing amp first and see what the results are.

They're used, and I can try them before purchasing, but I guess I figured by running 600 watts instead of 300 watts, that I would be getting a huge leap. While my subs are fairly loud, I still want more and thought this would make the difference.

via an amp? or you mean the subs?

Thanks for the responses guys...

So the concensus is to not buy these subs (@ $160) it's not worth it? Instead buy a new amp that can deal out 400RMS to each of my current subs?

I need more bass :)
