Please Comment on Amp & Sub Combo

I just want a decent sounding system. So far I have a Kenwood DNX7100 head, and MB Quart premium components 6.5 front and 5.25 rear. I have no subwoofer and zero amps currently.

I was hoping to use a PAB4100 to power the door speakers. Can anyone comment on those?

The sub and amp I was looking at is a JL 10w6v2 with a PAB1200 amp powering it, I originally thought since the sub was 4ohm that the 1200 would be a good match, but its 4 ohm dual voice coil, so that will put the 1200 at 800watts correct, which will damage the sub? Please comment.

Thank you very much from the Subaru community.

from a quick search i found the 10w6v2 is gonna handle 600w rms. if you're gonna power it with 800watts, that's no problem. just gotta make sure you don't turn it up too loud. distortion is what wrecks a speaker.

i'm running 900w into my subs that handle 600w combined. its all headroom, you're better off to have a little too much power than too little. you can always turn it down.

It won't damage the sub unless you overpower it for extended periods of time. Remember just because your amp can put out 800 watts, doesn't mean it has to. That's what the dials on the amp are for.
