Polk db Speaker Issue

I just recently took off my door panels to check out my speakers and clean sum of the pop (i think) off it. I noticed near the end of the speaker where the mount goes into the speaker molding, that the rubber/plastic was starting to crack and split.

Does this serious effect the performance of the speaker? I just got them from Crutchfield.ca in April so they still have a manufacturer warranty from Polk. I'm just wondering if its worth not having front speaker for a while and get it sent away and fixed. It just happened to the one for some reason near each screw mount.

You cant really tell but it kind splits like a spider web in different directions.

In my opinion its not worth worrying about, but it's up to you. It sounds like a classic case of the screws tearing up the surrounds. Use washers next time, they often help. Other than that be carefull tightening the screws.

Q: How many installers have ripped up a surround doing that??

A: All of them.....the good ones only once.....or twice......:cheeky4:

As long as the tear doesn't creep up the roll like a windshield crack that spiders you should be fine.....:smokin:
