Pop bottles?

So I wired up 2 pioneer subs and a rockford amp in my friends truck today. I was playing bass I love you and making adjustments when one of the subs made an extremely loud noise that sounded like hitting pop bottles together. Very hard to explain. It only happened once, and is still working perfectly fine. There is no smoke or smell. Ideas?

Sounds like the voice-coil bobbin was hitting the back-plate. Usually a clear sign that you're driving your speaker into severe over-excursion. This can be a bad thing.

your subwoofers bottomed out (magnet slap) on the low note of that song. if your amp has a subsonic filter, i'd turn it up a bit to eliminate that happening again

So turning on the subsonic filter would be a good idea?
