Ported shallow mount subs?

I've been looking a little at shallow mount subs, and most of the sites I've been looking at only mention using them in sealed enclosures...Kicker's site did have vented enclosure sizes listed for the CVT's though.

Now can I put any shallow mount sub in a ported enclosure and have it work okay provided the enclosure is of course the right size and tuned properly, or are some of them designed specifically for sealed enclosures ?

I'll be putting the sub under the rear seats of a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and since I want to go ported, but don't have a lot of room to work with, I'll probably end up with a long box with a slot port and the sub downfiring.

I'm looking for suggestions for the sub, particularly if it's known to work well in a ported enclosure, as well as an amp to pair it up with. I'd like to keep the sub and amp together under $600ish if I can but I'm willing to go a little over that if it's really worth my while...I'm not planning on doing this immediately so I can save up a little if I need to.

Thanks!

MTX slim is sealed and ported friendly. sounds allright too

Depends on the subs, pioneers shallow will also work in ported. According to their graphs, more output it to be gained, so I would say ported friendly for sure.

Thanks guys, I hadn't looked at Pioneer or MTX yet.

It's kinda sad, now that I think about it, how long I've been out of the car audio game. Last time I had really been paying attention I think Blaupunkt and maybe Pioneer had shallow mount subs out, and they were the new big thing.

Ugh...I'm getting old...
