Power Supply 115v ac input questions

Pyramid PS52KX 46 52 Amp 12V DC 1000 Watts Power Supply w Built in Cooling Fan 068888701716 | eBay

this is a link to the type of thing that I am looking for.

I have a home stereo project in mind and I'm hoping to get some advice here. I don't know much about the different types of power supplies available for this kind of thing. the link at the top here seems to be close to what I , ...may need?

I am attempting to build a car stereo into a coffee table.
Things I have so far:
-sub 500w peak
-amp 600w peak
car head unit.
multiple speakers of different ratings and sizes
( I do have some other amps and stuff)

so to sum this up , I want to power a head unit that runs 2 or 4 speakers, and a 600w (peak power amp ) that runs a 500w sub.

I guess I am mostly trying to understand what this type of 120 v ac to 12 v dc power supply is capable of . is there a better one ? , a popular one ?

Do i need to be worried about over / underpowering things? , I dont know how I should be matching up power for this system

Those power supply's will usually have a very loud fan when running. I've never used a Pyramid one (not the best brand in the car audio world, to be honest), and with what I know about them I probably wouldn't trust it. There's a reason it's refurbished. My recommendation would be to use a cheap home theater reciever (used would work well), cheap dvd player, buy a home audio sub amp from partsexpress and use the speakers you have. Wire the car audio speakers in series to give the reciever a 8 ohm load and most home theater sub amps will take 4 ohms.

Use something like this:

Hell,

This little guy has bluetooth in it. It would work perfectly for what you're doing.

ok, these are some great products and suggestions , I hear what you are saying about that power supply, I didn't even realize it was refurbished.

I think I might head in the direction of the battery powered garage set up( ventilation ) 12v dc stereo.

I have more motivation to use the car stereo equipment in some sort of application rather than a stereo in a coffee table idea. If I made it an outdoor coffee table .... maybe. but I think there are better ways to have home stereo..

I am going to build something that will make use of a lot of stuff that I have collected: I have multiple subs , amps , speakers , sub boxes, tons of wiring. I am thinking of a big garage stereo that runs off of a car battery or two.

I will get back on this , but in all honesty, it will be months away. I am moving at the end of july.
