Everything I've read or heard says to ground all amps to a single point with the shortest run of wire possible. Multiple grounding points can cause ground loops I believe. Could be wrong, but fairly certain on this.

You are correct sir.....that's why they make solid distro blocks for your grounds.....ground loops are one of the more irritating problems you can have in your system....

Also to the OP.....if you can't fit a larger case alt under the hood, do yourself a favour and do not let someone talk you into a rewired alt in the same size case with a much higher output. The problem is the extra windings generate more heat and the case is not able to radiate it fast enough. This causes several issues, none of which you want to deal with. Upgrading your "Big 3" is the best starting point to resolve power issues......

Unless you go with an external regulator which is about half the heat in an alternator.
