hi guys. i had a question or 2 about my car wiring. now my amps are in the back in my hatchback of my car and currently i have 2 long pieces of 4 guage wire running to 2 amps from the battery. its kinda too late to go with 1 guage since i already installed it recently. but here are a few problems. right now i just have a normal battery with only single posts (no extra posts on the side) and i worried about the positive post. the thing is on my post now is the original clamp for the car and i just have the 2 4guage end terminals connected on the bolt of the clamp. is this ok or is there a better way to get more powe through the wire? also, if i do the upgrade to the "big 3" and even add MORE positive wire, and if i want to run another 4 guage back to the rear for a 4-channel amp, (the 2 4 guage wires i have now are running on 2 seperate sub amps) how can i deal with all the congestion of power wires? i doubt that i can put 2 clamps on top of each other on the positive post. does any one have any pics of their battery so that i can get an idea of how i can do it? or know of nice clamp that can solve some problems??

thx!

You can get a clamp that has machined holes 3-4 holes that will replace your old clamp. If your not willing to pull those wire out I would do this and this isjust what I would do.

Get a new clamp that will connect your cars main wires and both 4 awg wires.

Run both wires into distribution or fuse block so that both run into the same source. Then run a 4 awg to each sub amp and a 4 awg to your 4chnl amp. Be sure to fuse each 4 awg under the hood. There is no need to run a third 4 awg from the hood to the 4chnl. amp. 2 runs of 4 awg from your battery is enough for about 200-250 amps of power all at once. Or you can start all over and do one stran of 2 or 0 awg and a breaker under the hood. Just a thought.

Cheers

hi thx for the advice. has anyone got a pic of this type of clamp and where i can get one?

also "smartass" since i have only 2 4 guage lenths, do you mean i should use one for the 4channel amp and the other seperated in a distribution block and run each amp with a short 8 guage piece at the back?? i have 2 sub amps, not one.

also at the battery, can i just hook each 4 guage wire seperate on the pos. post ?? i mean each 4 guage wire has a fuse connected on it up front, its just that they are not connected together with any block or anything.

Looks like you got it figured out for the most part just make it safe. Go to http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/ubb/...c;f=7;t=000859 I had just done somthing similar to my Explorer. The batt. teminals I got at Princess Auto for around $15 each. They came with simpal yet efective covers to boot. We are using oo gauge so 4 should fit. If memory serves me corectly you can hook up 2 large and 2 smaller to each terminal. The nice thing is you can hook up or un hook at will never disconecting the car it self.

No what I meant is run both 4 awg into one common block then run 3 seperate 4 awg off the block to each amp.
