Precision Power PPI E.DZ Advice Please
Hello all,
I need help finding a solid yet affordable eq / crossover. I currently have an AudioControl Three.2 but can't afford another one right now. So I am looking at a new PPI E.DZ which has all of the features I want (Eq, crossover, line driver, etc.). The problem is that it seems to only have a frequency response of 10-15,000 Hz Since we hear up to 20,000 Hz, I am worried the unit's cut off at 15,000 Hz will lead to a loss of fidelity. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Or other thoughts on this unit? I have all top end stuff in the car, Alpine Type S Separates, US Amps amplifiers, JL subs. I don't want this to be the weak link. |
Any suggestions would be awesome.

You specifically want an in-dash pre-amp?
10-15k +/-1db isn't that bad really. We don't hear that well up that high and it depends how bad it drops off above 15k. if it's only -3db or something at 20k then that's not really a big deal. My biggest problem with the PPI is the specified 50k-ohm output impedance. That could make for noise issues with some amps. The 150ohm output of the AC is much friendlier. Personally I would look at an outboard EQ. For the same money you usually get more channels of equalization which is always good. |

I have tried a few and would personally choose this over the clarion Hifonics HFEQ 4-Band Equalizer with 9-Volt Line-Driver and sounds better, and cleans up your sound nicely, filters/crossover can be bypassed if needed, also, the eq points are nice.

Thanks a second time sonic!

I actually have a Clarion preamp style EQ - either the EQS746 or a similar older variant. It's a decent piece and the more bands the better IMO.
